Philosophical anchor

What does a person need to live a good life?

On Thriving for Humans draws on Martha Nussbaum’s ideas about human flourishing and explores what it takes for a person not merely to live—but to have the opportunity to thrive.

The work points out that a good life cannot be measured solely by achievements or results. It is also shaped by the opportunities, relationships and conditions that make it possible to grow, act and belong.

As an art poster, On Thriving for Humans brings a philosophical dimension into the room. A work that is both visually engaging and invites reflection—on what we ourselves understand by a good human life.

The poster is based on an original work of art by Caroline Pontoppidan and is part of Pontoppidan Arts’ work with visual philosophy: art created to give you something to think with.

Which size suits your wall?

Compare the paper sizes below. A4 is 21 × 29.7 cm. Other sizes are in centimetres. Frames add to the paper dimensions.

A430 × 4050 × 7070 × 100
  • A4: for a small wall, a shelf or a personal gift.
  • 30 × 40 cm: for a smaller wall or a gallery wall.
  • 50 × 70 cm: a clear focal point in a room.
  • 70 × 100 cm: for a larger wall, above a sofa or sideboard.

Measure your wall and mark out the size with masking tape before choosing.

Handling & care

Your Pontoppidan Art print deserves care. Avoid direct sunlight and high humidity to protect the paper and colours. Handle the print with clean, dry hands and hold it gently by the edges. Framing behind glass helps protect it from dust and touching. Dust the frame with a soft, dry cloth and avoid applying cleaning products directly to the print.

About Pontoppidan Art

Pontoppidan Art is my artistic project, where philosophy becomes visual art. I paint to think — and to give others something to think with. Through images, words, colours and materials, I explore human experiences and tensions between thought and feeling. My aim is to make room for philosophical knowledge, curiosity and reflection in everyday life. Each work opens a question you can take into your own life.

Philosophical anchor

A philosophical anchor is the thought and question a work begins with. It may be rooted in a philosophical tradition, a concept or a human experience.

The anchor offers a way into the work and leaves room for your own interpretation — an invitation to think with art.
