Commissioned work · Caroline Pontoppidan · 2026
A facade, a sign above the door and the life around a bar. Berlin Bar is a commission from 2026 in which a recognisable place is interpreted as a painting.
From photograph to painting
The photographs provide concrete points of reference: the position of the windows, the lines of the facade and the lettering on the sign. On the easel, the subject is drawn out and colour gradually takes its place. Moving from photograph to painting, the place gains a different presence through brushstrokes, areas of colour and the details that remain.

The artwork in a room
The framed work shows the bar’s facade and street life. The recording below shows Berlin Bar in a room alongside Measured in Depth, another commission from 2026.
A commission that begins with your idea
A person, a place or a thought can become the starting point for a commissioned work. We agree on the direction, format, price and timing before work begins.
